It is impossible to ‘surf’ the internet without coming across him, unless you have a program wholly devoted to blocking anything to do with him, he is possibly the most annoying ‘teen’ on the planet, no wait I’ve just been informed of a girl called Rebecca Black who has a life threatening (that is to us, not her unfortunately) nasal condition, anyway introducing Justin Bieber…

This is a brief article trying to discern what has made this boy so damn popular, hate him or love him he is everywhere. 17 and earning $100,000,000 P.A but still having to clean his room he is not your typical Disney- brat like for instance, Selena Gomez (Who he is dating, allegedly) and Miley Cyrus (who he is not dating, yet). This 17 year old is a child at heart; and in fact is still legally a child. His ‘hit’ single Baby with lyrics leaving a lot to be desired has the most watched music video on Youtube of all time, big achievement for a little boy. The music video and high pitched repetitive vocals are enough to induce vomiting. The song consist of Justin being very very possessive of his ‘shawtie’, he is lulled into a false sense of security saying “thought you’d always be mine, mine” but then as usual he is dumped and sings his heart out pretty much trying to make his ‘ex-shawtie’ feel guilty. How this song ever got popular I will never know but girls in short; they LOVE him. Forget Swine flu, if Bieber fever was a life threatening illness (which it is, if you get the urge to go to one of his concerts) it would have killed just under 50% of the population who had access to the Internet, radio or TV. The hair and Purple ‘hoodie’ with a white lining around the zip have become the new sexy among pre pubescent girls. His next hit was One time which cane be described quite simply; White guy pretends to be ‘gangster’. In One time Justin is trying to get another girl who “[has] got everything I need” and he says repeatedly “Ima tell you one time,[Girl I love you]”. This girl is also referred to as ‘Shawtie’, failed another attempt at being ‘gangster’. Finally it comes to him being (presumably) dumped again when his third hit Somebody to love is released. Somebody to love is a big step up from afore mentioned singles and is pretty good. Justin by his time has realised that “[He doesn’t] need to much, just somebody to love”. Apparently he discovered a new talent; composition as the song starts “For you I’d write a symphony, I’d tear the violin, got me sink or swim, watch him play for ya”. There it is he is back to his old ways thinking he is superior thinking that he can sit back then swoop down when “he” least expects it. Then he gets macho “For you I’d be, (Woah, Woah) running a thousand mile, just get to where you are”, never pegged him for a runner then he begs “smile for me, (smile for me)”. His latest hit is Never Say Never featuring Jayden Smith based on the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid. Not much to be said beyond the Irony of the title, acceptable. But then Hollywood gets into the act and films the Justin Bieber Movie also called Never Say Never however is in 3D! Don’t just see him, see him and pretend to grope him. When the scene when Justin is lying on a couch TOPLESS, there surely will be many hands thrust in the air by aroused girls, quite akin to a Nazi rally. However being thin there isn’t much to go round but they may get a small pinch of his chest. These ‘Beliebers’ are absolutely dead crazy on Justin to disturbing levels. When will this stop? When IF he hits puberty.

Petrol Prices

Cheap Petrol is now a distant memory and with prices for 91 Octane set to reach over the $2.18 all time high per litre for 91 in New Zealnd. How fun! Soon it will reach even hire prices. This is ridiculous! There should be protest on the streets.

Caterbury Earthquake

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. On Tuesday the second major Canterbury earthquake hit. It has been extensively reported in the media so I do not find it necessary to report a lot on it here. Everyone is behind Canterbury which shows how tight New Zealand is. I think it is great all the support being given to the region from not just New Zealand but all around the world. Canterbury, We're all behind you!

End of Line For Whitcoulls?

On Thursday Night Whitcoulls placed themselves in voluntary administration on the way to Receivership. This Icon of New Zealand culture and my bookstore of choice MUST NOT be left to die! This MUST NOT be the end of the line! Without Whitcoulls there would be no major chain of bookstore in New Zealand and the Huge range of titles would become unavailable. I am waiting nervously.

Rail Station Upgrades

As reported on AKT website a plan to upgrade station before electrification was agreed to at Wednesday meeting of Auckland Transport with funding to still be decided.It will include major upgrades and minor ones like adding CCTV better lighting to a few stations.

It's good to see Auckland Transport committing to some decent spending on PT infrastructure.

Hopefully I'll have time to see some stuff that's charged on Rail network since I last went on it which was late January this Saturday.

Good to see Aaron trying to fill this blog with posts so I'll try and play my part too might increase readership in time.

Since I sure no one is really reading this site I can get away with a few posts such as this one might even fill this site with more posts.

So guess I'll talk about yesterday since that's most interesting day of my week did the usual chores and stuff but this week being the third Saturday is when the social group for people with Aspergers and Autism Spectrum you don't have to a official diagnose to go it I of course do now.It's High Functioning Autism from what I know there's not much difference from it and Aspergers I like to say my weirdness now has a name.Group was really fun talking to people like yourself and feeling normal for once is really great even meet another PT poster who comments on AKT and Auckland Transport Blog and I got to join the Campaign For Better Transport as a paying member I sure Jon R will be proud of me.

But yeah the group is held every third Saturday by Autism NZ Auckland at their office at 65 Morningside opposite St Lukes Mall you can take the 224 from the CBD and it drops you off right outside.

The great northern transport debacle

Having read a CBT submission to the ARC on the Puhoi-Wellsford road it got me thinking about the fact the whole safety issue with that section of road.Which I know all to well having traveled this road many and more often than not seeing crashes along it around the many bind spots,winding narrow sections that can cause lose of control through a little driver error.All and all a very unforgiving road that most will agree could be made safer.

According to the report the NZTA originally was going to do simple safety upgrades of the currant road,in January 2009 when the Orewa SH1 bypass known as the Northern Gateway toll road Transport Minister Steven Joyce brought up the whole Puhoi to Wellsford motorway this wasn't in any plans from recent years at the year until March 2009 with the change in GPS putting priority towards the seven roads of national significance the Puhoi to Wellsford was one of them.

At the moment the plan is separate off-line motorway/expressway at a cost of 1.69 Billion which the first section not to be completed until 2019 meaning many more will die along this road when the upgrades suggested in the CBT report would be done much quicker along with the Warkworth bypass which would solve most the congestion problems since Warkworth is the bottleneck in the system and they estimate with option 2 being the most at 320 Million.So we could get an upgraded SH1,NAL and Maston Point branch built with the money it cost for the currant NZTA plan I know which option I would go with

The New Mangere bridge was opened to southbound traffic today. The official preview was attended by many last Sunday. The Onehunga train station is due to open on the 19th of September. Buses may be routed via the mall to better connect with trains for more info visit http://www.maxx.co.nz/.

So maybe someone could suggest something or should just post things that "matter" instead of this silly thought provoking exercise.

Merging of libraries!

Yay! Auckland's Libraries are to be merged so everyone has access to a wider variety of books. Charges in Manukau City for overdue items has gone up but its no great pity.
Good idea it will streamline everything and will benefit all!

Music that's like motor vehicles

A bit of brain fart while listening to Deeper and Deeper by Dave Gahan is the fact some of my music sounds a bit like trains like I Feel You by Depeche Mode the beginning of the song sounds like the breaks on SA being applied and the baseline in quite a few Techno tunes sound like the ADK's. More Than The Party by Depeche Mode has a what sounds like a steam train departing but that was on purpose and not a sound that sounds like a train but isn't meant to I guess that's Electronic music for you even I'm pretty I've got some rail sounding Heavy Metal but the songs aren't coming to me right now.

Now let's hear some train/rail,bus,etc sounding songs or music you have

RE: 24 Hour Buses

24/7 buses on some routes would be good but a large minority of people out that late on a Thursday-Friday-Saturday night are drunk; not very pleasant for the driver. Also these routes could not be funded by the council as these are not 'essential'. These routes would need to make profit to. The earliest bus outside my house is at 6.15 I used to catch the 6.50 the second bus and even at that time only the express had more than 5 passengers. Overall Good Idea just low on list of priorities!

24 hour Buses

This is an issue that comes up every so often in Auckland Public transport 24 hour buses and the lack of them at the moment there's only the Airbus Express from Britomart to the Airport that runs 24/7 we have Nightrider buses that run at 1,2,and 3am on Saturdays and Sundays. You could say don't have the passenger base at night for most routes that would be the case but for the services like Dominon Rd and Mt Eden and Northern Express these services can have pretty full loads even on normal weeknights so these routes could be run 24/7 or 24 hours on Saturdays and Sundays and Night buses combining less popular day routes after midnight every day until first day service or on Saturdays and Sundays.

Since I've bean giving the right to post on here I'll post something since this blog is about everything from trains to politics I provide the filler in between none really cares about.

So a little about myself in short I call myself the Dave Gahan of the NZ transport scene well known but not well known in the grand scheme of things but known none the less I keep the humour in Public Transport is what best describes what I do.

I'll I need to say something about the b-line post below slagging the new buses being used not being not as good looking as the Volvo links which use what busfans call the "Desingline bubble" and used by NZBus from 2007 first being used for the Volvos on the Link and Scania K270UB6's. I would say it's something I really didn't at first but it grew on me even through I still like the Kiwi and the later desingline body used by other operators for their MAN's until late last year until a new design came along which is even used for the new Scania's at Waka Pacific so the bubble may have bean replaced and looking like Underground trains one they're buses not trains and two screw London we have Germany.

New B-line bus

The new B-line buses running along dominion road look good but just seem unnecessarily large. They're so boxy and tall, the link type buses are more chic and have rounded curves that remind me of a tube train, but these buses. Nope, atheistic FAIL. The name 'B-line' has already been used in the states. Hello be a bit more imaginative! We are kiwis after all!
